Mobile telecoms operator yu is targeting at least Sh2.8million every day following the introduction of a Sh2 flat-rate charge on subscribers within its network. The tariff, made permanent on Monday, although still the cheapest in the country, now brings to an end a free calling holiday since July for the firm’s 1.4 million subscribers. It also signals that the firm plans to maintain its low cost strategy to grow its market share at a time when rival companies have indicated a possible increase in calling rates to cater for rising costs of production.
