Bioprospecting move to safeguard genetic wealth
About Sh10 billion will be used to take stock of Kenya’s genetic resources as a first step towards their commercialisation. The process called bioprospecting includes identifying valuable components in fields such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, seed, crop protection, horticulture and botanical medicine.
