Over 5,500 students in post-secondary education institutions will be trained on investing in the stock market through this year’s annual Nairobi Securities Exchange investment challenge.
The competition has recorded a 23 per cent growth in the number of participants from last year’s 4,466 students.
Each competitor will receive Sh2 million virtual start-up capital to invest using the NSE real-time information for three months, with the winners set to get cash prizes of Sh200,000 and internship positions in stock brokerage firms.
Started in 2008, the online competition is a simulation of activities that are pertinent to trading in securities at the NSE. The main objectives are to impact knowledge on securities and to create a culture of saving in the youth. source: www.nation.co.ke/business/news
