Uchumi Supermarkets is back on an expansion drive, as it seeks to reclaim leadership position within the retail chain store category. This will see it almost double its branch network in Kenya and Uganda, with plans to open at least 17 branches across the region. Ten branches are already complete and ready for opening. The board has also given approval for another seven branches to be opened within the financial year.
