Aga Khan University Hospital carries out first video surgery

 

Surgeons at Aga khan University Hospital have performed the first ever surgery using the video conferencing surgery (VCS) technology. The procedure on three patients was conducted with guidance from specialists in India. VCS uses computerised interface to transmit the surgeon’s actions at a surgical workstation, to the operative site at the remote surgical unit. It uses a forced feedback input to transmit to the surgeon the environment of the operative field.
