Ambassador Kaberia to be feted by the Les Aspin Centre for Government

PETER KIRIMI KABERIA, Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil will be awarded the Founders Award of the Les Aspin Centre for Government. The award is given to a member of the international community that has contributed significantly to democratization and other tenets of the Aspin Center. In the past the democracy and the Founder's awards have been given to former vice president and Mrs. Bob Dole, Congressman Lewis of Atlanta, the late Amb. Richard Holbrooke, Congressman Jerry Kleczcka (Ret), Philanthropist David A. Straz, Mr. and Mrs. John Burke, Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawai among others. The Awards ceremony will be held on Thursday October 6, 2011 at the Les Aspin Centre for Government in Washington, D.C, during celebrations to mark the 15th Anniversary of the Aspin Centre’s African Program.
Ambassador Kaberia is a distinguished career diplomat with a wealth of experience and expertise having served in various capacities within Kenya’s Foreign Service. In his early career as the Assistant Director for International Programming at the Les Aspin Centre for Government in Washington, D.C , he along with Fr. Tim O’Brien founded the Les Aspin Centre’s international programme that focuses on democracy and governance training for young people from both East and West Africa.
