Samburu and Ilchamus Cultural Festival at the Bomas of Kenya

Amiya’s costumes became the centre of attraction during the Samburu and Ilchamus Cultural Festival at the Bomas of Kenya. She modelled them for local and international tourists.  Amiya, who had not modelled before, became a sensation with her shuka, cloth and skin costumes during the festival yesterday, which attracted hundreds of guests.  She was part of a troupe from Samburu and Marugat that displayed its cultural heritage, courtesy of the Tourism ministry and the Bomas of Kenya. Amiya was a bit amused as the city guests jostled to take pictures of her. They could not get enough of her costume, including the elaborate and beautiful beadwork on her neck and head. If she was at home on a normal day, she would not have drawn any attention. read on: http://www.nation.co.ke/News/A+feast+for+the+eyes+as+Samburu+culture+takes+centre+stage++/-/1056/1256510/-/nyo6gcz/-/index.html
