No more false starts for Kenya's Olympic champion


Many had dismissed her three-year riposte attempts having fizzled out as fast as had shot to the international athletics scene.

But Olympic 800m champion Pamela Jelimo is back.

To prove her critics wrong, Jelimo run a 4x400m relay race during a recent Kenya sprinters training camp in Nairobi clocking a massive 53.6 seconds, almost the same time she ran in 2008 on her way to setting the fastest time in recent history of the 800m race.

That time, Jelimo ran 1:54.01 in Zurich as an 18-year-old. That placed her phenomenal run into third place on the all-time list, with just World record holder Jarmila Kartochvilova (1:53.28 - 1983) and Nadezhda Olizarenko (1:53.43 - 1980) ahead. Read more: news.xinhuanet.com
