The construction of a second container terminal at the Mombasa port is set to begin by end of November, according to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) managing director Gichiri Ndua. The $327.026mn (KSh28 billion) project, which has been on the drawing board for several years, is expected to boost the port’s handling capacity and enhance its operations.
The second Mombasa container terminal is the biggest single project to be undertaken by KPA since 1980 when the existing terminal was built. The project is part of an elaborate program to expand and modernise the Mombasa port. read more: Construction Review online
